Mission
The Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick (PLEIS-NB) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. Our goal is to help New Brunswickers know the law. We offer bilingual legal information for the general public – online, in print, and through workshops. We want everyone in New Brunswick to understand their rights and responsibilities and get legal help when they need it.
To meet the diverse information needs in the province, we have adopted the following objectives:
- To respond to individual and community requests for information about the law, the legal system, sources of legal assistance, and law reform;
- To increase the availability of easily understood general information about the law, as well as law-related information on specific topics;
- To promote a greater understanding of how the law affects everyday activities and to facilitate self-help skills; and
- To act as a clearinghouse for information about the law by promoting awareness of and access to legal resources in the community, while encouraging the coordination of public legal education initiatives.
