Legal Clinics for Tenants
This summer, New Brunswick tenants can get free legal advice on housing issues at pop-up Tenant Legal Advice Clinics!
The Clinics are operated by the University of New Brunswick’s Legal Clinic and the Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick, with funding support from the Department of Justice Canada.
Tenant Legal Advice Clinics will run throughout New Brunswick from May through July 2025. Check the calendar below for dates near you.
How it works
You don’t need an appointment to use the Tenant Legal Advice Clinic. Clinics operate on a walk-in basis. Come early if you can.
You will meet with a law student who is supervised by an experienced Clinic lawyer. You can meet for up to 30 minutes. They can give you summary legal advice about issues like:
- Rent increases
- Evictions
- Repairs and maintenance
- Security deposits
- Complaints to the Tenant and Landlord Relations Office
Bring any paperwork you have received from your landlord or any other documents related to your case. You must also bring a piece of government ID, like a driver’s license.
Service is available in both French and English.
